1. Marriage Class
Love and Respect is a small group marriage study by Dr. Emerson Eggerich.  It is based on extensive research which reveals that while every person needs both love and respect, the greatest felt need of a woman during marital conflict is to be loved and the greatest felt need of a man during conflict is to be respected.  Unfortunately, it often happens that when a wife is feeling unloved she expresses her need in a way that is perceived as disrespectful by her husband.  Conversely, when a husband is feeling disrespected he expresses his need in a way that is perceived as unloving by his wife.  This sets up what Dr. Eggerich calls “the crazy cycle,” in which both husband and wife sabotage the ability of their spouse to meet their needs.  This study is designed to help couples recognize when and how they fall into “the crazy cycle” and enable them to replace it with “the energizing cycle,” a means whereby each partner can motivate the other to meet his or her real needs.   The course is based on concepts learned through social research and substantiated by biblical principles.  It is led and facilitated by those who respect the Bible as their guide to a fulfilling marriage, but it is not disrespectful toward or unaccepting of those who have no religious affiliation.
